01   How it started

I wanted to be at the front of it.

I'm endlessly curious and always learning, and AI is the thing I've been most curious about. I started experimenting on weekends and in any spare hour I could find, working out what helped and what was just noise. I could see where it was heading, and I didn't want to be catching up.

Today I use AI for the repetitive parts of the job, from calendars and inboxes to research and report preparation, planning and creating without having to start from scratch every time. That leaves more room for the thinking, judgement and business partnering work that matters most.

Since then I've shared what I've learnt with other EAs. With EA How To, that was the “How EAs Are Actually Using AI at Work” conversation, the APAC AI Workshop: Forecasting, Action Trackers & Dashboards, and then the AI for EAs Virtual Summit APAC in August. I've also run a four-part Claude webinar series for the Australian Institute of Office Professionals, and sat down with Ruth Kilah on her podcast, Career Growth Stories™.

03   How I work

My desk, not yours.

01

No theory and no hype.

I show the actual screen, the actual prompts and what happens when things don't work the first time.

02

Test it, trial it, try it out.

Everything I share, I've run at my own desk first. Some of it fell over, and I say so.

03

Make it your own.

We are all different. Take it and use it as a basis, but make it your own.

Work with AI, not for AI.
